Versi Bahasa Malaysia: Back Glass iPhone Pecah? Kos Repair & Kenapa Kena Betulkan
A cracked iPhone back glass CAN be repaired, and yes, it’s worth fixing even if the phone still works. The back glass is the rear glass panel (not the front screen). A crack left alone can cut your fingers, spread, and let in dust / moisture, affect wireless charging, and lower resale value. On newer iPhones this rear glass is fused to the frame, so the longer it’s left, the worse it gets. Chamo can replace the back glass, from RM120 (iPhone 8), by model.
The phone drops, flips over, “crack”, and this time it’s not the front screen that shattered, it’s the rear glass. Many people see the phone still on and the screen still fine, so they leave it. But a cracked back glass isn’t just ugly, it can become a safety issue and can spread until it affects internal parts. This article explains what the back glass is, why people ignore it, and why you actually should fix it, plus what your repair options are in Malaysia.
What is the “back glass”? (not the screen)
The back glass is the glass panel on the rear of the phone, the part with the Apple logo, around the cameras. It’s different from the front screen (the one you touch) and different from the metal housing / frame. Since the iPhone 8, Apple has used glass on the back to allow wireless charging, which is why many current models have glass on both the front AND the back.
Pro and Pro Max models follow different maths, larger glass, a more delicate camera area, and many shops decline the work entirely. Prices and reasons are in iPhone Pro Max back glass.
• Front screen broken, cracks over the display; touch may not work, with lines or black patches.
• Back glass broken, cracks on the rear, around the Apple logo / cameras. The front screen & touch are still fine and the phone works as usual.
• Camera glass broken, small cracks right over the camera lens only (a separate part).
If you’re unsure, send a photo of the front & back, we can identify it right away.
Why people ignore it: and why that’s a mistake
Because a broken back glass doesn’t stop the phone from working, many think “just leave it, deal with it later”. But cracked rear glass isn’t purely cosmetic. Here’s the real reason it should be fixed:
• Sharp glass cuts you, fine shards can nick your fingers, palm, or pocket every time you hold it.
• Cracks spread, once cracked, it keeps creeping as the phone flexes or temperature shifts; a small area can become the whole back.
• Dust & moisture get in, the gaps open a path for dust and water vapour to reach the inside, wearing down seals and potentially affecting internal parts.
• Wireless charging affected, damaged / uneven rear glass can sometimes reduce wireless charging efficiency.
• Resale value drops, trade-in buyers cut the price hard for a broken back glass; the repair often costs less than the deduction.
• Newer models = glass fused to the frame, on recent iPhones the back glass is bonded firmly to the frame, so cracks spread more easily and it gets more complex the longer you wait.
What to do now (before you get it repaired)
If you can’t bring it in yet, follow these so you don’t get cut and it doesn’t get worse:
- Don’t rub the cracked glass with bare fingers. The fine shards are sharp. Hold it by the edges or use a case for now.
- Cover the crack with clear tape. Cellophane tape or a spare protector holds the shards in place so they don’t flake off, a temporary measure only.
- Avoid pressing or flexing the phone. Don’t keep it in a tight pocket or sit on it, pressure makes the crack spread.
- Watch your wireless charging. If wireless charging turns slow or hot, stop and use a cable for now.
- Send a photo of your model + the rear to WhatsApp. We confirm the model and give an exact quote to replace the back glass, free diagnosis.
A cracked back glass can cut you and let dust and moisture into the phone. On models where the rear glass is fused to the frame, the crack keeps spreading each time the phone is stressed, so the sooner it’s fixed, the simpler and safer it is. If the glass is already loose or shards are flaking off, stop handling it unprotected and bring it in.

It’s worth fixing. Sharp glass can cut you, cracks spread, and dust and moisture can get in and affect internal parts. It also lowers resale value. The earlier it’s fixed, the cheaper and simpler it is.
From RM120 (iPhone 8), by model, e.g. iPhone 13 from RM200, iPhone 15 Pro from RM380. Free diagnosis before you decide.
It can. Damaged or uneven rear glass sometimes reduces wireless charging efficiency, and the gaps let dust in. If charging turns slow or hot, it’s worth checking.
