Liquid damage: the first 10 minutes decide everything
If you've just spilled something on your MacBook, stop reading in a moment and do this first. Liquid doesn't kill a logic board on impact, corrosion does, and corrosion starts immediately and never stops on its own. Every hour matters.
Do this now
- Shut it down. Hold the power button. Don't "save your work first", a powered board with liquid on it short-circuits.
- Unplug the charger. Power plus liquid is what destroys components.
- Turn it upside down, like a tent, on a towel. Let gravity pull the liquid back out instead of deeper toward the board.
- Bring it in. Today, not next week.
And please don't do these
- Don't put it in rice. It doesn't work. Rice absorbs almost no moisture from inside a sealed chassis, and starch dust gets into the ports. Meanwhile corrosion keeps eating the board.
- Don't turn it on "just to check". This is the single most common way a recoverable MacBook becomes a dead one.
- Don't use a hairdryer. Heat warps components and pushes liquid deeper.
- Don't wait to see if it dries out. It won't. The damage happening is chemical, not about wetness.

Keyboard problems
Sticky keys, keys that repeat, keys that do nothing, or a spacebar that needs a good thump. On Apple Silicon MacBooks the keyboard is part of the top case assembly, which makes this a more involved job than it sounds, and one worth doing properly.

Battery replacement
MacBook batteries are consumables, they're rated for a set number of cycles and then they're done. Signs yours is finished: it dies far from its old runtime, it won't charge past a certain point, macOS shows Service Recommended, or, most urgently, the trackpad has started feeling stiff or raised.
A swollen battery is not a "later" problem
If your trackpad is being pushed up from underneath, or the case no longer sits flat, the battery is swelling. Stop charging it and bring it in. A swollen lithium battery under pressure is a genuine fire and injury risk, this is the one repair on this page we'd ask you not to postpone.
Screen replacement
Cracked panels, lines through the display, backlight failure, or dark patches. We handle Retina displays on both Air and Pro. Send a photo and we'll tell you whether it's the panel, the backlight, or the display cable, three different faults that look nearly identical from your side.
Charging problems
MagSafe or USB-C not charging, charging only at certain angles, or not charging at all. Often it's the port or the cable, occasionally the charging circuitry. We check the cheap causes first, because that's the correct order to check them in.
Software, storage and slowdowns
macOS update failures, boot loops, system crashes, apps that won't launch, and SSD upgrades on supported models. Note that Apple Silicon MacBooks have soldered storage, we'll be straight with you about what is and isn't upgradeable on your specific machine rather than selling you hope.
