Inner screen or cover screen: which one broke?
The Z Flip 4 has two displays. Replacing one has nothing to do with the other.
A quick way to tell: close the phone. If the damage is visible while it is shut, it is the cover screen. If the phone looks fine closed but the fault appears when you open it, it is the inner screen. If both are damaged, both are quoted separately.
A cracked cover screen and a cracked inner screen can look similar in a photo sent over WhatsApp. Do not accept a firm price from anyone who has not physically seen the phone open and closed. The gap between the two jobs on this model is RM780.
What actually fails on a Z Flip 4
The crease line
The inner panel folds at the same point every time. On Flip-series phones this is where display faults tend to appear first, a line across the fold, a strip that stops responding to touch, or discolouration along the crease. The panel does not have to be visibly cracked for it to be failing.
Pressure damage
Foldables do not tolerate anything trapped inside when they close. A grain of sand, a key, a coin, anything caught between the two halves presses directly into the soft inner panel. This is one of the most common causes of a dead patch on the inner screen, and it usually leaves no external crack at all.
The protective film
The Z Flip 4 ships with a factory film on the inner display. It is not a screen protector you added, it is part of the assembly. When it starts lifting at the edges, that is the film, not the panel. Lines and flicker

A Flip 4 inner screen is a RM1,180 part-level repair, not a fix. There is no cheaper intermediate step once the panel itself has failed, which is exactly why the free diagnosis matters before anyone opens the phone.
Will Samsung cover it?
Manufacturer warranty covers manufacturing defects. Accidental damage, pressure damage and liquid damage are normally chargeable, and a Z Flip 4 bought at launch is outside its standard warranty period by now anyway. If your phone is still covered, ask Samsung first, you should not pay for something you are entitled to.
